I wasn’t born here but I mostly came up here … and I love it here. A lot of people that live in Vancouver complain about how small it is, how the weather sucks, how we have no solid identity … I can’t really argue with much of that but it doesn’t invoke any negative feelings for my city. I can’t say I’d never leave Vancouver but I’m pretty sure I’d come back. It’s not until you leave Vancouver that you start appreciating what it is.
This type piece I created in my spare time, the visual concept came to me while I was driving through downtown. I know there are similar treatments to various things out there in the world but I haven’t seen anything to do with Vancouver like this and I felt it was appropriate. The typeface is Akzidenz Grotesk (one of my go to’s) and the colours are chosen along the colour wheel without too much discretion.
